Part of Notes from the Road, our city-by-city series.
The short answer: Craigslist took its Personals section offline in 2018, and no single site replaced it. Personal ads in Denver now live on Reddit’s Denver and Colorado boards, most of them for hookups, on classified sites such as Doublelist and Locanto, and in text-first apps including AseeksB. Craigslist’s missed connections are still there. On October 11, 2026, we read the newest Denver and Colorado Springs ads.
In Denver, the biggest searches are for Doublelist and Locanto: “doublelist denver” and “locanto denver” each get about 5,400 searches a month, both down 19% on last year. “denver speed dating” gets about 1,000, “denver personals” about 880, up 49%, “denver missed connections” about 880, “denver casual encounters” about 320, and “denver kink” about 260, up 85% (Google Keyword Planner, October 2026). About 70 miles south, “doublelist colorado springs” gets about 4,400 searches a month, up 313% on last year, and reached about 9,900 in August, so Colorado Springs has a section of its own below.
Here is how each option works, from our checks on October 11, 2026:
On October 11, 2026, we read the 20 newest Denver ads on Locanto and Doublelist, and all 13 Denver ads on SeekingList, and counted the escort ads. On Locanto, 14 of the 20 were posted as women, and all 14 were escort ads; the other 6 were posted as men. On Doublelist, 10 of the 20 were escort ads. SeekingList had only 13 Denver ads, the oldest seven months old, and 9 of them were escort ads. Google’s AI answer for Denver personals also suggests Denverite Classifieds, a column for making friends that the local news site Denverite started in July 2024; when we checked on October 11, 2026, the newest one on its site was from November 11, 2024. Passing this test doesn’t make an ad genuine: an ad can look ordinary and still try to move you to another app once you reply. AseeksB ads can’t be read without an account, so they weren’t counted. How we check.
AseeksB publishes this page and is included in it. For how each site handles the eight traits that defined Craigslist Personals, see our full comparison.
Denver has no busy general r4r board: r/R4RColorado, with about 1,100 followers and 57 weekly visitors, had no posts newer than two years when we checked. The busy boards are for hookups, and the two biggest Colorado boards are built around photos:
| Board | Created | Followers | Weekly visitors | Weekly contributions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| r/R4RDenverNSFW | May 2025 | About 6,500 | About 5,600 | 934 |
| r/Denverhookups | January 2020 | About 19,100 | About 2,800 | 157 |
| r/Denverh0okups | November 2025 | About 12,400 | About 3,000 | 186 |
| r/ColoradoWhores | October 2023 | About 121,800 | About 31,000 | 656 |
| r/ColoradoHookupGW | Not checked | About 35,800 | About 17,000 | About 3,400 |
| r/Denver_Kinky_Club | November 2024 | About 33,000 | About 20,000 “Kinksters” | About 2,000 “Online Kinksters” |
As each board showed them on October 11, 2026, with r/Denver_Kinky_Club’s numbers under its own labels and its followers as Google lists them.
r/R4RDenverNSFW describes itself as a place to meet up and chat with like-minded people in the Denver area, “strictly for individuals and not content sellers.” It is for people in Colorado or visiting, who have to say where in Colorado they are when they ask to post. Titles follow the format “(Age) X4X - Title,” and posts that don’t are removed. Profiles and posts that link to content for sale are turned away, and talking dirty belongs in private messages, not the comments.
r/Denverhookups is for Denver and Aurora residents and visitors. Titles follow “X 4 X (age) (neighborhood),” like M4F, with the neighborhood as Google Maps names it. Asking people to move to another site or app counts as spam, and every post is removed after seven days: “it’s a hookup site, not a classifieds.” r/Denverh0okups, spelled with a zero, is for people who live in or are traveling to Colorado. Titles include your age, gender, and location, and posts can’t carry links, watermarks, or personal information.
r/ColoradoWhores and r/ColoradoHookupGW are mostly photo posts. r/ColoradoWhores is for Colorado residents; visitors can post during their stay if the title gives their travel dates. Accounts must be 30 days old with more than 25 karma, moderators can ask anyone to verify with three selfies and a handwritten note, posts are limited to two every 24 hours, and links in titles and comments, Telegram, escorts, and drugs are banned. r/ColoradoHookupGW had no rules posted when we checked. r/Denver_Kinky_Club is a BDSM board for Denver that runs a monthly photo contest with a cash prize.
For friends rather than dates, r/DenverMeetups, with 124 weekly visitors, is for group meetups and bans NSFW posts and asking people to message you privately.
Colorado Springs is about 70 miles south of Denver, and most of its search interest is in Doublelist: “doublelist colorado springs” gets about 4,400 searches a month, against about 140 for “colorado springs missed connections” and 90 for “colorado springs personals.” On October 11, 2026, Doublelist’s Colorado Springs page showed the same 20 newest ads as its Denver page, 10 of them escort ads. On Locanto, the newest Colorado Springs ads included 12 posted as women, and all 12 were escort ads. SeekingList had four Colorado Springs ads, all from the past six weeks, all posted as women, and all escort ads. Craigslist’s Colorado Springs missed connections had only three posts, the oldest from September 1, and one of them was a personal ad.
Reddit’s Colorado boards cover the city too: r/R4RDenverNSFW and r/Denverh0okups take posts from anywhere in Colorado, and r/ColoradoWhores from Colorado residents. The city was in Denver’s papers long before Doublelist: in July 1895, a bachelor in Colorado Springs, “college graduate, good position,” advertised in the Rocky Mountain News for “a refined, well educated lady, not over 30,” with letters to his post office box in Colorado Springs. Read the ad.
Craigslist’s Denver missed connections, under Community, are steady but not busy: on October 11, 2026, there were 19 posts, the oldest from September 5, and all but 2 looked like genuine missed connections. Searches for them jumped this summer: “craigslist denver missed connections” reached about 720 in July, from about 170 a month before.
Denver was writing them more than a century ago. In January 1895, the Rocky Mountain News carried this one:
“WILL the lady who sat in the first balcony of the Tabor Grand last Saturday night and received business card from gentleman please reply to this and give address?”
Rocky Mountain News, January 10, 1895. Read the adThe Tabor Grand Opera House, at Sixteenth and Curtis streets, had opened in 1881, built by Horace Tabor, who made his fortune in Leadville silver and lost it in the silver crash of 1893. In May 1898, the same paper asked a woman “with dark eyes and red dress, on Elitch car Friday” to send her address, and a month later a woman looked for the gentleman “who smiled at lady Sunday afternoon going home from Chutes park.”
AseeksB has a missed connections category too: say where and when, and only the audience you choose can see the post. For how to write one that the right person will recognize, see our guide to missed connections.
Beyond the apps. “denver speed dating” gets about 1,000 searches a month. CitySwoon runs speed dating around Denver, including ages 50 to 65 at Osteria Marco in Larimer Square on October 15, 2026, ages 30 to 45 at Poka Lola Social Club in the Dairy Block on October 21, and ages 35 to 49 at Vesper Lounge in Capitol Hill on October 28. Pre-Dating, which has run speed dating since 2001, lists events at Left Hand RiNo for singles in their 40s and 50s on Sunday, October 25, and in their 30s and 40s on Tuesday, October 27, and a Lock & Key Halloween singles party at BrewDog on Wynkoop Street on October 30. For more ways to meet people, with or without an app, see our guide to alternatives to dating apps.
Craigslist still has a Denver site, and its missed connections are still there, but the Personals section went in 2018, Casual Encounters included; for platonic plans, its activity partners board, under Community, is still there too. Which site comes closest to Craigslist depends on what you used it for: reading ads without signing up, replying without a match, or staying anonymous. Our Craigslist alternatives comparison sorts the sites by those traits. If you came looking for Doublelist or Locanto in Denver, the numbers above are what we found; for more, see sites like Doublelist and sites like Locanto.
Denver’s personal ads are older than Craigslist. In May 1910, the Rocky Mountain News carried this:
“BUSINESS MAN 35, WORTH $35,000, lonely, in Denver for short time, would meet refined maid or widow with means, matrimonially inclined; references exchanged.”
Rocky Mountain News, May 22, 1910. Read the adIt ran directly below another lonely writer’s ad: “VERY LONELY AND WOULD MEET cultured woman or widow of means matrimonially inclined.” The mining towns had them too. In October 1899, Leadville’s Herald Democrat carried an ad from “An Aspen lady” who wanted to correspond with a gentleman about forty years old, “object matrimony. Miner preferred.” Aspen had been a silver town of 10,000 or more before the crash of 1893. The next spring, a “young and handsome widow” in Aspen drew letters from nearly a score of local men and turned out to be publicity for a play. And in July 1902, a gentleman and a lady advertised back to back in the News, at boxes X-123 and E-124, each asking the other to “give full description.” More in our history of personal ads and The Personals Archive.
A written ad says which part of the metro you are in before anyone drives across town. AseeksB is free to download and post, and every post shows how far away it was posted.
One honest difference: AseeksB ads can only be read inside the app after signing up, unlike Reddit’s boards and the classified sites above. That is the trade for choosing exactly who sees each post, and first messages stay in the app, where you can report someone even after they unmatch.
Text-first personal ads for Denver and Colorado Springs, in your own words, with distance and other controls in Supporter.
Craigslist took its Personals section offline in the US on March 22, 2018, after Congress passed FOSTA, including in Denver. People there now post on Reddit’s Denver and Colorado boards, most of them for hookups, on classified-style sites such as Doublelist and SeekingList, in Locanto’s personals section, and in text-first apps such as AseeksB. Missed connections still run on Craigslist. The sites differ mainly in who can read your ad and how replies reach you.
Yes, r/R4RDenverNSFW, created in May 2025, with about 6,500 followers, 5,600 weekly visitors, and 934 weekly contributions in October 2026. It is for people in Colorado or visiting, and titles follow the format “(Age) X4X - Title.” Denver also has two hookup boards, r/Denverhookups and r/Denverh0okups, and r/R4RColorado still exists but had no recent posts.
Craigslist still has missed connections for Denver, under Community: when we read them on October 11, 2026, there were 19 posts, the oldest from September 5, and all but 2 looked like genuine missed connections. Colorado Springs had only three. AseeksB has a missed connections category too.
It has a Colorado Springs page, but on October 11, 2026, that page showed the same 20 newest ads as its Denver page, and 10 of them were escort ads. Anyone can see ad titles, but reading a full ad needs an account.
Yes, and in Colorado Springs. AseeksB is a free personal ads app for iOS and Android. Every post shows how far away it was posted, anyone can search by distance, and Supporters can also set a maximum distance on their own posts. A free account keeps one active post, and someone can send one message per post until you reply.
